Old Solar Energy Idea Re-Packaged in a new and I think EXCITING Way!

I'm not sure if I posted about this company before, but I do think this is a very good idea.....an old technology re-packaged in a new way.

The technology is Solar Energy.....but utilizing net-metering. That is, there are no storage batteries. During the day, your solar array supplies power out to the power grid...and your power meter spins backwards.....essentially paying you for the power.

At night when the sun is not out and your system is not creating energy, your house gets it's power from the electric company...essentially buying back the power you "sold" to the grid during the day.

If the system is balanced properly, you will be using the same amount of energy you sold the system in the morning.

I love the fact that there are no batteries.....batteries are expensive, big and bulky, and just more heavy metal to recycle or otherwise take care of when they wear out.

The company that does this is Citizenre and I know they exist in NH. Check out their website for more info.

Interesting article letting you compare where you stack-up in the financial spectrum against others in the USA

I found this article very informative in letting me know where I stood with respect to the rest of the people in the country.

I suppose I should have always felt OK about my financial situation...but this helps me quantify it a bit more.

Insurance rates in NH are suppsed to be down.....my costs are up.

I think I heard that insurance rates in NH have come down a bit...but my insurance costs seemed to have risen. (My house, car and umbrella policies will total $2534 this year)

I think the problem is a basic one for me.....my wife and I used to insure through a company that insures teachers. Well, when my wife passed away...the company took away our discount for teachers. So this year, I'm back at the "normal joe's" rate...at which this company is not so competitive.

I suppose it is always true that it pays to shop around. (I just started the shopping process today)

Interesting post on the US Economy....

Ok, most of you know I have worries and opinions on the state of the US economy. I suppose I am looking forward more than a couple of years to my retirement and wondering how my self-saved nest-egg will survive it.

So I have been on a quest to try and educate myself on our economy, and how to benefit from whatever happens .

Before you get upset...I don't mean benefit at the expense of others. I'm talking simply about knowing when to Zig and Zag to get the best return for my own investments. Totally above board.....nothing criminal or taking advantage of ANYONE.

Well...the old rule about buying investment property is probably no longer true....and buy and hold might be a horrible thing if you pick the wrong stocks. (we all know that the stock market can go down as well as up these days)

So I found another web discussion of our economy that is interesting. I'm not sure how accurate it ism but it seems quite plausible. Check this one out and see what you think.
